Introduction to Financial Modeling
The course is a hands-on introduction to three broad classes of financial models: structured finance models, corporate finance models and trading models. Often, students and professionals are only introduced to a narrow understanding of financial models with little appreciation of the breadth of major models being used in the industry. In this hands-on computer workshop, participants will be introduced to the theory, accounting and technical implementation of all three major kinds of models.
Objective
Students should come out of the course with a basic understanding of the purpose and structure of the major classes of models and an appreciation for where they fit in the world of finance. Since each class of model is really a career, this is an excellent course to take before embarking on more advanced courses.
